BEST Lab Graduate Student Rachel Martino Is Officially a Doctoral Candidate

Congratulations to Rachel Martino—officially a doctoral candidate in the BEST Lab—who successfully defended her dissertation prospectus earlier this year and recently completed her clinical case presentation! The prospectus defense and clinical case presentation are two of the final milestones in our clinical program prior to the dissertation defense and clinical internship.

Rachel’s doctoral dissertation will include multiple studies the aim to uncover how aspects of the broader social context—from stigma to regional emotion norms—influence the ways in which we come to experience, recognize, understand, express, and regulate emotions. Her dissertation committee includes Dr. Hatzenbuehler as well as Dr. Mark Shuquan Chen and Dr. Leah Somerville.
