BEST Lab Graduate Student Jesus De Luna Completes Second-Year Project
Congratulations to Jesus De Luna, a Stone PhD Scholar and graduate student in the BEST Lab! Jesus successfully completed his second-year project, which was titled ‘Malefactors’ Over Time: Collective Representations of the Rich and the Poor in the United States from 1880 to 2019.
In his second-year talk, Jesus highlighted his project’s innovative use of natural language processing to explore differences in collective representations towards the rich and poor across 140 years of historical text. Jesus also identified macro-economic indicators, like higher unionization, that predicted shifts in these representations over time. We’re so proud of Jesus for successfully completing this major milestone in the program!
